Memorable Cruise on Vembanad lake with Lakelands Cruise of Alleppey

Alappuzha is an important tourist destination in India. The Backwaters of Alappuzha are the most popular tourist attraction in Kerala. Lakelands houseboat cruise in these backwaters is a delightful experience. It connects Kumarakom and Cochin towards north and Quilon to the South.

Our AC Deluxe Boat was arranged by KTDC through Lakelands Cruise of Alleppey ( Mr. Biju - 0 94468 38176 ) from Kumarakom ( 12 Noon ) to Alleppey ( 9.00 a.m. ) on Vembanad lake for a night . Rooms were very neat & clean. Staffs of the boat were very cooperative . Food was delicious .They serve fish for lunch and chicken for dinner. We required fish extra for dinner also , so they took us to the stalls in the lake. Prices were very high but the fish were fresh . They cooked for us , whatever we requested . Our trip with them was very memorable .

lakelands cruise What a lovely experience!!!

Serene

Lakelands cruise - What a lovely experience!!!

The food, the stay, the hospitality. Everything was exceptional.

Since we were 7 adults and 1 infant. We never had to ask as to double the rice and ensure it is the normal long grain rice. Our infant was served exactly the way, we did at our home.

Really warm staff and they never interfered in our conversations OR the small chit-chat that we did as were in big group.

Served the food as per out time and ensured it was hot and the way we liked it.

Thanks to the captain, chef and the steward.

Love and Peace

Lakelands Cruise - Nice experience of boat house stay

Lakelands Cruise is indeed a professionally run cruise company; this was visible in their well planned itinerary and execution. Lakelands Cruise arranged a cab for us to travel from Kochi to Alleppy boarding point (charged Rs 2500/-). We were taken by a small boat to the boat house. Cruise started on time (12 noon). We were a family of three - house boat had only one bed room so the whole boat was for us. It was indeed a beautiful boat house with very good interiors. Maintained well. There was an upper deck for better view. Cruise stopped at 1:30 pm and lunch was served at - we ate vegetarian. Food was tasty. Cruise resumed after lunch.

Boat crew would normally ask you if you would be interested in some Ayurvedic massage kind of stuff; they have their "favorite" places - cruise company has nothing to with. My advice is to stay away from it. They charge much higher than outside; this will also will eat into your cruise time (cruise will be stopped for massaging).

Evening snacks were served and anchored at 5:30 pm for overnight stoppage (AC will be switched on only during the night). You can ask for a fishing rod if that interests you. Dinner at 9:00 pm. Too many mosquitoes (and big ones)
to sit outside in the evening.

Suggest to wake up early to enjoy the beautiful morning; followed by breakfast. An hour of cruise and you are dropped off at 8:30 am.

Overall, it was enjoyable experience considering this was our first boat house experience.

Lakelands Cruise

A "Lakelands Cruise"on the Vembanad lake allows you to do that................ Into the countryside that offers a close look at rustic village life-skiff-fishermen launching their cockleshell boats, large flocks of domesticated ducks waddling down to the water from thatched houses on the banks, aimless cattle grazing in fertile pastures, lotuses floating here and there in small shallow ponds, canals or waterways vary in dimension from being wide enough to be dubbed lakes, lush green rice fields thinning out into the distance and coconut groves with the occasional temple or church, ostensibly rich with marine bounty all around the snaky silvers of freshwater or simply soaking up the sun !!!
